Just like zombies, many people are moving—but they are not truly alive.
Today I’m using the title “Zombies Amongst the Living” to help us understand life and death in a deeper way.
Every nation and culture has its own beliefs. If I ask you, what is a zombie? most people will say it is something that is dead but still walking. Movies and stories describe zombies as lifeless bodies moving around without purpose.
We understand physical death—when a person’s body stops working. Doctors can confirm that. But there is also something called spiritual death, and this is what many people don’t think about.
Today, social media, movies, and entertainment shape how we think. Shows like The Walking Dead show people fighting zombies—creatures that were once alive but are now empty. These zombies move, but they have no real life in them.
Here is the important lesson:
Just because someone is physically alive does not mean they are truly alive.
The Bible teaches that a person can be alive physically but dead spiritually.
In Ephesians 2:1–5, it says that we were once dead in sin, but God made us alive through Jesus Christ. This means a person can walk, talk, and live daily life—but still be spiritually dead without God.
This is like a spiritual “zombie”:
Alive in the body, but empty inside.
Even in churches, there are people who attend services but have not truly accepted Jesus Christ. They may look alive on the outside, but inside there is no spiritual life.
The truth is:
We have all sinned, and we all need God.
John 3:16 tells us:
God loves the world so much that He gave His Son, so that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.
Real life—true life—comes from God through Jesus Christ.
You may be living, working, and going through daily routines, but the real question is:
Are you spiritually alive?
Jesus once said, “Let the dead bury their own dead.”
He was showing that there are people who are physically alive but spiritually dead.
That’s why it should not be surprising to hear that there are “zombies among the living”—people who are alive in body but dead in spirit.
But there is hope.
God loves you and wants to give you life. If you have never accepted Jesus Christ, you can choose Him today. And even if you once believed but turned away, you can come back—God is ready to receive you.
The Bible also reminds us that when physical death comes, there is no more chance to change our decision. That is why the choice must be made while we are still alive.
The choice is yours.
Choose life.
Choose Jesus Christ.
