GOOD NEWS BECAUSE THE BAD NEWS IS THAT WE ARE ALL SINNERS FACING DEATH.
The book of John chapter 3 verse 16 says it all by saying , “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8 simply puts it this way ,it says , “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Galatians 4 verse 4 ,says , But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, other bible versions will say ,But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.
Jesus in John 8 verse 3 said to the Jews , “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. These words were directed to all who opposed him.This includes the Jews ,the Muslims ,the Hindus ,The Bhudhist , the Aethist ,and all the non believers. Jesus Christ did not judge or condemn anyone because he said he came to save humanity from sin and death ,if only you believe and accept all truth.
If you have read the previous chapter and you have seen or heard most of the promises and prophecies about Jesus, then you will not have a problem understanding Jesus Christ as the lamb of God. Jesus Christ as the redeemer . Jesus Christ as a friend .Jesus Christ as the link between God and humanity. Many people have reduced Jesus Christ to a level of being just one of the messengers of God .He is more than that .
PROMISES AND PROPHECIES FULFILLED
1.HE WOULD BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID(Matthew 1;1)
” In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth.” Jeremiah 33:15
2.HE WOULD BE BORN OF A VIRGIN (Luke 1;verse 27)
Isaiah 7 verse 14 says , “ Therefore the Lord himself will give you] a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuell” .revealing his mission and nature, God is with us while the name Jesus,meaning Jehova will Save).
3.HE WILL BE BORN IN A PLACE CALLED BETHLEHEM(Luke 2; verse 4 to 7)
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” these are words from the book of Micah 5:2 .
4.THE PRECURSOR, JOHN THE BAPTIST(Matthew 3; verse 1 to 3)
“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.” this was a prophecy from Malachi3 verse 1.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”
5.YEAR IN WHICH HIS MINISTRY WOULD BEGIN (Luke 3 ; 1) compare it to DANIEL 9; verse 24 to 27.
“Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. “Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times. “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”Please click the study of this prophecy.
6.CHARACTERISTICS OF HIS TEACHINGS AND WORK .(Luke 4;18).
Compare it to Isaiah 61 verse 1 which says , “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound”.
7.HOW HE WOULD ENTER JERUSALEM.(Matthew 21; verse 1 to 11)
It was prophesised in Zechariah 9 verse 9 which says ,“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!Behold, your King is coming to you;He is just and having salvation,Lowly and riding on a donkey,A colt, the foal of a donkey.”
8.JUDAS` BETRAYAL.(Matthew 27 ;3 )
It was first prophesised in Zechariah 11 verses 12 and 13 which says , “ Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord for the potter.”
9.HIS HANDS AND FEET WOULD BE PIERCED.( Luke 23;33)
It was written before in Psalms 22;verse 16 to 18 which says “,For dogs have surrounded Me;The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They pierced My hands and My feet;I can count all My bones.They look and stare at Me. They divide My garments among them,And for My clothing they cast lots.”
10.HE WOULD BE MOCKED.(Matthew ,27;29)
It was all written before in Psalms 22;7 and 8 ,which says , All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, “He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
11.THEY WOULD GIVE HIM VINEGAR TO DRINK.(Matthew 27:29)
It was all written in Psalms 69;21 which says ,” They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.”
12.HE WOULD HAVE AN HONOURABLE BURIAL (Mark15; verses 43 to 46)
It was prophesised before in Isaiah 53;9 which says , “And they made His grave with the wicked— But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth.”
13.HE WOULD TRIUMPH OVER DEATH (Matthew 28:6 and Mark 16;6)
It was all prophesised in Isaiah 53;10 to verse 12 ,which says , “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
SATAN IS THE NUMBER 1 ENEMY OF JESUS CHRIST AND ALL HUMANITY.
In John 10:10 Jesus said , “The thief cometh not but to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
Satan was responsible for deceiving Adam and Eve .Satan was and is the one responsible for deceiving and recruiting unsuspecting people who opposes everything that is holy, true and just. In John 8 verse 44 ,Jesus said to non believers and opposers ,”You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” By these words , Jesus revealed that he knew the origins of Satan and more about Satan as a liar ,a deceiver ,an accuser and a murderer. How many times have have you opposed God through your attacks on Jesus` life and divinity ? In all those days of your ignorance ,God forgives you. The book of Acts chapter 17 verse 30 and 31 says , “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
JESUS ADOPTS US TO BECOME THE CHILDREN OF GOD.
2 Corinthians 6:18 says “And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.
John 1 verse 12 says , But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
Romans 8:14 says , For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Galatians 4:7 says , Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
Matthew 5:9 says ,“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
HOW CAN ONE BE BORN AGAIN ?
Jesus told Nicodemus: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).
Nicodemus said: “How can a man be born when he is old?” (John 3:4). He did not understand that Jesus was referring to a spiritual rebirth.
Jesus continued: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:5). Being born of water and the Spirit refers to baptism. Baptism is to be done the way Jesus was baptized by John the baptist and the Holy spirit of God will bring genuine conversion,a sincerely rebirth which will change our old habits into the newness of life ,thoughts ,attitudes and actions.
By saying “most assuredly,” Jesus emphasizes that the rebirth is absolutely essential for salvation. Yet, many religious people do not understand what the rebirth is, do not understand how one can be born again. Even many people who call themselves, “born-again Christians,” do not understand, or do not accept, what the Scriptures say about the rebirth.
JESUS SAVES
ACTS 4;12 says , And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
1 JOHN 1 :9 says , If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
ACTS 16:31 says , And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Hebrews 7:25 says , Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
John 14:6 reads like this , Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
JESUS CARES
John 15 : 7 reads as follows ,If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you
He said in John 10:11 , I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
JESUS HEALS :THE POWER OF HIS NAME
Matthew 4:23 records , And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.
James 5 :15 reads And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
