America is known for making influential movies and that can change cultures and lifestyles. If you try to research for information about this statue of Liberty on the internet ,you will probably find a lot of different conflicting and sometimes confusing information . While I was researching and learning about the statue of liberty , I came across one of the most amazing and fascinating facts that caught my attention amongst others is the number of rays on the crown on the statue. Yes ,there are other interesting features, like the 25 windows ,the broken chains ,the torch and so much more , but the 7 rays on the crowns are of great interest as it was significant to the designer and sculpture of this great sculpture or image .
Arguments
Some historians have argued that the seven rays on the crown represent the seven seas and the seven continents, implying the global importance of liberty for all. Others believe the seven rays of her crown represent a series of seven vital freedoms: civil, moral, national, natural, personal, political and religious liberty. What will happen when the statue falls ,by reason of natural disaster or attacks from political ,religious or civil society? The movie industry in America has made many cinematic movies about the future where the statue is either destroyed by aliens ,bombed by angry enemies and in one of the movies ,the statue drowned.
History and background
The stature of Liberty was given to America as a gift by France in 1886 in commemoration of the American Revolution. The monument paid tribute to the perseverance of freedom and democracy in the US.A French political thinker named Edouard de Laboulaye proposed the idea. Dreams do come true, no matter how big. Edouard de Laboulaye believed that the gift would inspire the people of France to fight for democracy against Napoleon III.It was a French sculptor called Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi who designed the monument.It was modelled on Libertas, the Roman Goddess of Freedom. The full name is a bit of a mouthful; ‘Liberty Enlightening the World’. The Statue of Liberty certainly has a better ring to it. The face of the statue is thought to be Bartholdi’s mother, Charlotte. The mystery of number of the 7
Many bible students and believers will agree with me that the number 7 symbolizes perfectness and completeness .The crown on the statue of Liberty has 7 rays. For argument sake ,let us look at those rays from a perspective of the other group of people who believe that crown represent a series of seven vital freedoms: civil, moral, national, natural, personal, political , and religious liberty.
Let us quickly look at these freedoms :
Civil Freedom– freedom relating to ordinary citizens and their concerns, as distinct from military or ecclesiastical matters.
Moral Freedom – to be freely concerned with the principles of right and wrong behaviour.
National Freedom – freedom relating to or characteristic of a nation; common to a whole nation
Natural Freedom– freedom existing in or derived from nature; not made or caused by humankind. Can natural freedom be about a person having an innate talent for a particular task or activity.What about his her freedom ?
Personal Freedom– freedom of your mind from what determines your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It is based on our ability to exercise choice. Although some circumstances may be more favourable for acting autonomously, choice is always possible regardless of circumstances.
Political Freedom – freedom from oppression or coercion, the absence of disabling conditions for an individual and the fulfillment of enabling conditions, or the absence of life conditions of compulsion, e.g. economic compulsion, in a society.
Religious Liberty – freedom described as a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or community, in public or private, to manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance. It also includes the right not to profess any religion or belief or “not to practise a religion”.
Questions :
For how long is America going to promote all these freedoms for ever? If the 7 rays on the crown represent the seven continents of the world and the torch represent light to immigrants ,will America be so welcoming to immigrants from over the world? False unity is coming
There is a movement called Ecumenical Movement happening as you read this article. What is the ecumenical movement about? This is about promoting the unity of religions especially Christianity. Who is the head of Christianity on earth ? Is it Jesus Christ of Nazareth or it is the Pope of Rome? Wake up from your spiritual sleep. The true Jesus Christ warned about deception , powerful enough even to deceive the chosen of God. In everything you do ,stand on the word of God. Develop a deep a relationship with Jesus Christ and lean not on any men but God.
Great trouble is coming. God is our only hope and fortress .He is our safety ,without him ,we will be deceived and wiped away. Many do not read their bibles carefully but wait to be told what the bible says.
